Julie Lipsett completed her Bachelor of Architecture in 1990 at University of Canberra. She has considerable experience in coordinating public sector architectural and public art projects, often involving liaison with complex community and government stakeholders. Much of Julie’s experience while in Canberra was gained while working for the National Capital Authority, the government body responsible for the commonwealth land in Canberra, where she managed a number of public art and architecture projects within the parliamentary zone. Julie also worked at the firms Woods Bagot and GHD in Canberra working with mainly institutional and commercial clients. More recently, she has run her own private practice for nearly twenty years. She moved to Byron Shire in Northern NSW in 2007, where she now works and is an active participant in the local community.
Projects in the Northern Rivers include:
- Renovation of Byron Breeze Apartments at 110 Lighthouse Road, Byron Bay
- Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School Multi-Purpose Hall, in collaboration with Malcolm Price and Toni Appleton
- Renovation of Bangalow Post Office
- Numerous new dwellings and significant renovations of houses in Northern NSW
